This information booklet has been produced to help Muslim women be more informed about their rights and the practices in relation to marriage and divorce. The resource also highlights the consequences of being in marriages that are not legally recognised under the laws in the UK and provides advice on steps that can be taken to ensure women are in legally valid marriages. Advice also includes how women who are going through a divorce to nagivate the process and to identify and challenge discrimination.

After conducting a round table discussion with Muslim women and Government Equalities Office (in partnership with the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations at the Warwick University), a report was produced and formerly submitted to government's consultation on Strengthening Women's Voices. The findings of the discussions were summarised, which highlighted how Muslim women can be encouraged and supported to increase their civic engagement and influence policies and decisions affecting their lives and their communities.
