Wedding Law Reform (MoJ)
September 2026
|
The Ministry of Justice published a consultation, titled "Tying the Knot: Reforming weddings law in England and Wales," in July 16, 2026, which closed on September 24, 2026. Key proposed changes included focus on licensing the person conducting the wedding rather than the specific building so couples gained more freedom over where their ceremony takes place and also considerations around the processes when religious marriages are conducted and an additional civil element takes place. MWNUK responded to the consultation. |
