Misogyny: the manosphere and online content Inquiry (Women and Equalities Committee)
July 2025
| Muslim Women’s Network UK submitted evidence to the Women and Equalities Committee’s inquiry into Misogyny: the manosphere and online content, highlighting how online misogyny, amplified by influencers promoting male dominance, and online preachers, is shaping harmful attitudes towards Muslim women and girls. Misogyny is a systemic issue, but is compounded for Muslim girls by racism, stereotyping, and distorted religious messaging. These dynamics are silencing girls in schools, homes, and faith spaces. We called for stronger tech regulation, culturally sensitive education, community engagement, and safe spaces—emphasising the need for an intersectional response that challenges abuse both online and offline. | |
