COVID-19:Domestic abuse and risks of harm within the home (Home Affairs)

In April 2020, MWNUK responded to Home Affair’s Committee Inquiry into the Home Office's preparation for and response to Covid-19 (Domestic abuse and risks of harm within the home). Some key issues highlighted included: - Increase in risk of domestic abuse but difficulties in Muslim women asking for help - Lack of safe temporary accommodation - Impact on child maintenance service - Increased risks of grooming and exploitation - Increased risks of forced marriage, honour based abuse and FGM - Increased risk of spiritual abuse - Lack of culturally sensitive competent counselling service - Risks of numerous pop up listening sercvices - Child Maintenance payments not being paid on time by partners - One parent not allowing the other parent access to children |
